"33" Export Lager Lauds Super Eagles' 100% Group Stage Performance

“33” Export Lager beer, the Nigerian Football Federation’s official beer partner, congratulated the Super Eagles on finishing first in Group D at the ongoing African Cup of Nations.

The Super Eagles won Egypt, Sudan, and Guinea Bissau on their way to the top, finishing with a total of 9 points.

They are still the only team in this year’s AFCON tournament to have finished the group stages with a perfect score. Aishat Anaekwe, Senior Brand Manager, “33” Export Lager, commented on the team’s performance at this point, saying, “We have only won points at this stage, but it is important to celebrate the small wins as they come because they form part of the journey.” We are encouraging the boys to go all the way.

The Eagles began the tournament on a high note, defeating tournament powerhouse Egypt 1-nil. They followed that up with a stunning 3-1 victory over Sudan. The game against Guinea Bissau was all about pride because the Eagles had already qualified, but the Eguavoen-led side handled it like any other game and delivered a stellar performance.

The first half was a cagey affair, with neither side finding the back of the net in the first 45 minutes. The goals eventually came in the second half, with Sadiq Umar scoring from a Kelechi Iheanacho cross in the box in the 56th minute.

The second goal came after Moses Simon danced into the box and fired a shot that hit the crossbar. The ball fell into the path of W. Troost-Ekong, who tapped it into the net. A lengthy VAR check was required to confirm the goal, but the Nigerian team was eventually awarded the goal. The Eagles won the game by a score of 2 – 0.

The Super Eagles will play Tunisia in their next match on Sunday, January 23rd.
