Legit.ng, Nigerian news website, emerged #5 on the list of top News Publishers on Facebook.
In the rating provided by Newswhip, Legit.ng came behind top globally acclaimed publishers Daily Wire, BBC, Daily Mail, and CNN, and ahead of New York Times, NBC News, Foxnews, and Breitbart who all made the top 10 most engaged publishers on Facebook.
“Nigeria’s Legit.ng maintained its strong performance to take fifth place and disrupt the Anglo-American domination,” a report by Newswhip stated.
The analysis was based on English language content from publishers, and it is ranked based on Facebook likes, shares and comments.
“Legit.ng’s continued ranking as one of the top publishers on Facebook is not by accident.
The online news media’s dominance on Facebook is largely due to its data-driven innovations, audience-focused content and consistency in terms of audience engagement and building (online) community,” says Nurudeen Lawal, Compliance officer at Legit.ng.
Legit.ng is a leading online news and entertainment platform by audience in Nigeria. Every month, over 14 million people visit the website, and over 12 million people follow Legit.ng on social media.
While coming 5th deserves some accolades, it is pertinent to know that this is not the first time Facebook acknowledges Legit.ng’s success as a publisher. In December 2021, the news website also was ranked as number 5.
Earlier in 2021, Legit.ng was named as the Best News Website in Africa at African Digital Media Awards by WAN-IFRA.
