#NairaRedesign Challenge — Some Nigerians have expressed their disappointment over the newly redesigned naira notes by President Muhammadu Buhari.
Brand Spur Nigeria reports that Buhari unveiled the new currency notes on Wednesday, November 23, before the Federal Executive Council (FEC) meeting at the State House, Abuja.
However, across all social media, the general feedback shows that many people are underwhelmed as the new banknotes, 200, 500, and 1,000 notes respectively fell below their expectations.
Reacting to the development on Twitter, a former lawmaker who represented Kaduna central senatorial district, Shehu Sani wrote, “If it’s Naira colour, the CBN should have just engaged Snapchat.”

The CBN clearly didn’t care for a redesign, they just wanted the fastest way they could get in the way of naira hoarders – the quickest switch of the notes. New filter. New note. Much lower production cost. Right or wrong will depend on if it achieves that primary purpose.
