Brand Spur Nigeria, reports that the partnership between Unilever and FIFA would run through to 2027, hence Unilever, would also be named sponsor for FIFA Men’s World Cup 2026™ as well as the FIFAe Finals, which would be the first time the football governing body FIFA would be partnering with personal care brands across women’s, men’s and FIFA esports competition.

This partnership would see both FIFA and Unilever collaborate with FIFA’s Women’s Development Programme which was started in 2020, as an initiative designed to provide opportunities for women and girls and supports the continued growth of women’s football around the globe.

The 2023 FIFA Women’s World Cup which set the stage for the biggest stand-alone women’s sporting event in the world, reaching over 2 billion people, would have in attendance 1.5 million people across the tournament’s 64 matches, showcasing many opportunities to inspire women and girls to engage in sports.

President of Unilever, Fabian Garcia commented on the partnership saying “Working with the FIFA Women’s World Cup 2023, our brands will connect with an enormous and highly engaged audience. This is a significant opportunity for them to engage a growing audience of women’s football fans, demonstrate relevance, and build brand power while promoting gender equality in sports and supporting future generations of female athletes.”

Fatma Samoura, FIFA Secretary General, added that “Unilever has some of the world’s biggest and most impactful consumer brands, and we’re incredibly excited for them to join us on our journey to Australia and Aotearoa New Zealand. 2023 is going to be a landmark moment for women’s football, and Unilever are the ideal sponsor to help us grow the game globally – this year and beyond.”

Unilever aims to build on its existing project with this new collaboration with FIFA, which is aimed at creating a positive impact on communities. Some of the recent projects have been Rexona’s Breaking Limits programme, which provides funding for community sports and helps young people overcome barriers to being active and the Dove Self-Esteem Project has been inspiring body confidence in the next generation of girls since launching in 2004, which reached over 94 million young people to date.

This collaboration will provide the personal skincare brand the opportunity to supply 80,000 gift packs containing personal care products directly to the fans at various FIFA events over the next few years.
