Tech space has seen several announcements in the past few months by various tech companies introducing new features hoping to compete in the new AI market. Artificial Intelligence has been on the rise since the announcement of ChatGPT in November 2022.

Facebook’s parent company, Meta has announced an AI Sandbox for advertisers which would help them create alternative copies, and background generation through text prompts and image cropping for both Facebook and Instagram ads.

This new feature would help brands generate different variations of the same ad copy for different audiences without having to change the core message of the ad.
Background generation feature would help create different assets for the campaign while the image cropping feature would help companies create visuals using different aspect ratios for various mediums like social posts, stories, and short videos(Reels).

Meta according to its blog post announced that these features are currently available for selected advertisers but hopes to expand it to more advertisers in July.

It said “Currently, we’re working with a small group of advertisers in order to quickly gather feedback that we can use to make these products even better. In July, we will begin gradually expanding access to more advertisers with plans to add some of these features into our products later this year,”

This announcement is coming after Meta’s CTO Andrew Bosworth disclosed that the company was looking to use generative AI tech for ads.

Bosworth disclosed in an interview with Techcrunch, he said “[I] expect we’ll start seeing some of them [commercialization of the tech] this year. We just created a new team, the generative AI team, a couple of months ago; they are very busy. It’s probably the area that I’m spending the most time [in], as well as Mark Zuckerberg and [Chief Product Officer] Chris Cox,”

However, Meta’s president Mark Zuckerberg disclsed that although it has started working on different AI tools, Meta still remains committed to metaverse development.
