Moments after pay TV company, Multichoice Nigeria announced increases in tariffs for the packages on its DSTV and GOTV bouquets, some subscribers have taken to X expressing their dissatisfaction BrandSpur Nigeria reports.
According to Multichoice, the new rates will take effect from May 1st, 2024. A sample of the message sent to DStv Premium subscribers’ decoders reads; “We understand the impact this change may have on you – our valued customer, but the rise in the cost of business operations, has led us to make this difficult decision.
“It remains our mission to provide the best entertainment and viewing experience to you and are committed to continue to deliver high-quality content and unparalleled service. So, from Wednesday, 1 May 2024, the price adjustment will take effect.”
Reacting to the announcement, some subscribers expressed dissatisfaction with the increased cost of the service, especially in light of the current economic situation in the country.
They argue that the new rates are too high and may not be affordable for many Nigerians, particularly those on low incomes.
Went to the Supermarket today to get foodstuffs & the price of everything has increased 20x. Got back home & I just received a text message from MultiChoice for price increase on my DSTV package.
But can we blame them this time? This economy is not helping anyone at all.

I’m convinced DSTV is a money laundering scheme, there’s no way 100+ channels can be this boring.
