Earlier this week at RJ4, Victoria Island, Lagos, Toke Makinwa, Nigerian radio presenter and on-air personality (OAP) launched her new unisex perfume collection under the ‘Toke Makinwa Beauty Brand’.

The Lagos event hosted some prominent personalities and fans in Nigeria. In attendance was Toke Benson-Awoyinka, Lagos State Commissioner for Arts and Culture, Ebuka Obi-Uchendu, Waje, Big Brother Naija’s Tacha and Ceec, Mercy Aigbe, and Stephania Coker among others.

At the event, she unveiled her perfume collection which houses three unique fragrances; Rogue, Intense, and Dive. Each of these fragrances showcases her intrinsic love for perfumes and the expedient roles they play in the daily life of an individual.

The Birth Of Toke Makinwa’s Beauty

The seasoned OAP spoke about how the creation of her perfume line came to be. She made it known that its birth is from her undying love for a good smell.

Looking at business and the economic news in Nigeria, she went further to state why her newly launched products are price-friendly despite the decline in the Nigerian economy. “I believe that regardless of what the economy looks like, people always spend money on how they look and how they feel because that’s literally what they need at the end of the day.

“Smelling great is good manners. So I think we’re right in the middle of, you know, getting people to be more confident, to feel great about renaissance in terms of affordability.
Well, it is a premium luxury line. We try to make it affordable” Toke said.

She responded to whether people should expect a perfume store from her, by saying “You’re gonna have to wait to find out, but we’re definitely rolling out a couple of cents. This is the first, but this is not the last. And I really do hope that you know, we take this from Nigeria to the rest of the world.

“I’m hoping and praying that in all white spaces, black brands begin to gain recognition and the respect that it deserves. So now that I think that economically we might be okay, let’s see what the checks and balances are. We might open the store.”
