At the fifth edition of the Africa Financial Technology Congress, African Brands, a group committed to encouraging and supporting brand growth throughout the continent, will honour the role that financial technology companies have played in advancing financial inclusion on the continent.
The event is slated to take place in Lagos on July 31, 2024, with the topic “Harnessing the Power of Fintech to Accelerate Financial Inclusion in Emerging Markets.”
In a statement reported by the national news brand, the event’s organisers mentioned that 1400 active fintech businesses exist throughout Africa, and that the continent has seen growth in the fintech sector over the previous ten years.
It holds: “Major drivers of the growth in the fintech ecosystem include favourable demographics, high level of mobile phone access and Africa’s generally poor level of internet financial inclusion.
“Over the last 15 years, Africa’s development outlook has improved significantly with digital technology growth, driven primarily by the fintech revolution. It is against this background that the African Financial Technology Congress 2024 was created to continue to share more insight on the progress of Africa’s fintech revolution.” it added.
The organisation states that in order to generate ideas for solutions to the main problems and possibilities facing the sector, senior representatives from banks, the government, investors, FIS, card issuers, payment services platforms, blockchain executives, and solution providers will be gathered at the congress.
Continuing, it stated that an awards ceremony will be held during the conference to recognise fintech brands that have excelled in their deliverables.
The organisers stated: “AFTC is founded on the idea that Fintech can unleash unprecedented economic growth in Africa but more collaboration ecosystem for stakeholders is needed.”
