The Aurora Tech Award, a global prize for female entrepreneurs in the tech industry, and inDrive, an empowering platform for female entrepreneurs in the tech industry, honoured five female entrepreneurs and finalists of their just concluded annual global prize on the stage of Lagos Startup Week.

649 applications from female participants worldwide were received by the inclusive organisation that breaks down barriers and promotes equality in tech entrepreneurship to bridge the funding gap for female founders in the industry.

After a rigorous evaluation process, Folake Owodunni, a Nigerian entrepreneur and the CEO and founder of Emergency Response Africa, outperformed her colleagues to secure the coveted $30,000 in funding.

The technology and information news reports that apart from financial rewards, the Aurora Tech Award recipients receive media attention, access to a worldwide network of investors, and mentorship opportunities to aid in the growth of their businesses.

The Tony Elumelu Foundation’s CEO, Somachi Chris-Asoluka, participated in a fire chat sponsored by the Aurora Tech Award in collaboration with the Women Who Launch Track of Lagos Startup Week.

Additionally, Mercy Akanno, Head of TEDx Lagos, moderated a panel discussion titled “Aurora Tech Award: Female Founded, Female Funded,” which included the finalists for the 2024 Aurora Tech Award, which are Eniola Edun, co-founder of Gamr; Ifeoma Nwobu, co-founder/COO of Sendstack; Jumoke Dada, founder of

“Aurora Tech Award is doing a fantastic job through mentoring, funding, and awards. You would not find too many gender-based organizations in Nigeria such as Aurora Tech Award that provide a platform like this,” this was stated by Nwobu, the COO and Co-founder of Sendstack, during the meeting.

Nwobu said that she learned from her fellow founders and found the sponsored panel to be quite informative in a statement she sent to the media.
