Customers have received notifications stating that the ultra-high definition picture and four screens of the premium plan will now cost N7,000 instead of N5,000.
Continuing, the regular plan now costs N5,500 instead of N4,000. The base plan is now N3,500, while the mobile plan is now N2,200, BrandSpur digital news reports. The review is a reaction to the foreign exchange markets’ decline of the naira.
For Nigerian users, the new Netflix price list is the second for 2024 as there has been a change in price before now.
Netflix last examined pricing for Nigerian customers in April 2024, according to TechCabal. That period saw a rise in the normal plan from N3,600 ($2.26) to N4,000. The base plan stayed at N2,900 at the same period.
Adding, the mobile plan was raised to N1,600 from N1,200, and the premium plan was raised to N5,000 from N4,400. Nigeria only has 10.5% of Africa’s total Netflix users, according to Omdia, a London-based research company.
A Netflix representative countered that the Omdia figures are untrue and that the firm does not disclose regional figures.
Prior to this, the local news outlet featured an account from a DSTV customer explaining how his friend tried other TV providers before switching to DSTV.
He however said in a video clip that his friend had subscribed to Max Pro but was unhappy that he was unable to watch football games on the platform similar to DSTV. Finally, in order to make the most of his membership and truly enjoy live football, his pal went back to DSTV.
