As the first facility in the nation to obtain both Tier IV design and facility certifications, Galaxy Backbone announced on Monday that it has obtained Uptime Institute’s Tier IV accreditation for its second data centre.
According to Galaxy Backbone’s website: “This certification signifies that our data centre’s design and facilities meet the highest international standards, ensuring high reliability and availability.”
GBB disclosed that it collaborated with Huawei on the project and made use of the prefabricated modular data centre solution, FusionDC1000B, from Huawei.
According to the company, the construction and installation procedure was the fastest of its kind in Nigeria because it was finished in just one month thanks to the usage of prefabricated containers, BrandSpur technology and information news reports.
According to Galaxy Backbone, the prefabricated containers satisfy IP55 dustproof and waterproof specifications and are capable of withstanding environmental obstacles like scale 12 winds and magnitude 3 earthquakes. They also combine different systems, like smart modules and lithium batteries.
“Most of the existing data centres in Nigeria are Tier III,” Galaxy Backbone said. “To meet market demand for higher reliability, we partnered with Huawei to build Nigeria’s first Uptime Tier IV data centre with dual certifications.”
Prof. Ibrahim Adeyanju, the CEO and Managing Director of Galaxy Backbone, stated: “Achieving this Tier IV certification from Uptime Institute is a testament to our unwavering dedication to excellence in the cloud, data centre, and business continuity services.
“This certification assures our clients that they can rely on us for the highest levels of service availability and security. We remain committed to driving innovation and delivering world-class services to support the digital transformation of Nigeria and beyond,” he added.
