During the Innovation in Payments and Remittances (IPR) 2024 Awards, which were hosted in London recently, Flutterwave—a prominent payment technology firm in Africa—was declared the firm of the Year. This accolade highlights Flutterwave’s steadfast dedication to quality, innovation, and making cross-border payments simple for all people and companies.

The International Money Transfer Awards honour the exceptional accomplishments of the most creative businesses in the world of international money transfers, including banks, fintechs, telcos, and money transfer operators.

The prizes are in line with the IPR’s initiatives from 2018 to promote cooperation between experts in payments and remittances, share best practices, and encourage constructive change in the sector, BrandSpur digital news platform reports.

By designating Flutterwave as “Company of the Year,” IPR honours the company’s continuous dedication to supporting retail clients via Send App by Flutterwave, its cutting-edge cross-border remittance solution, and enterprise businesses with its Flutterwave for Business suite of solutions.

This award honours Flutterwave’s innovative ideas that have made it possible for people and companies in Africa and beyond to use straightforward remittance services, enabling millions of Africans living abroad to conduct smooth cross-border transactions.

Yewande Akomolafe-Kalu, Flutterwave’s Interim Head of Marketing, said: “We’re excited to be named IPR’s “Company of the Year.” This award is especially important to us because it recognizes our innovations in the payment ecosystem and the role they play in transforming cross-border transactions. With a strong focus on connecting Africa to the world and the world to Africa with seamless payment solutions, we’ve continued our continental leadership as an ecosystem enabler and an innovation trendsetter.”

Continuing, in 2024, Flutterwave won the title of Most Innovative Company for Europe, the Middle East, and Africa from Fast Company.

Mitesh Popat, the company’s new Chief Financial Officer, was been appointed to spearhead the next stage of expansion aimed at building long-term value for its clients and the larger African payment ecosystem.
