Following the signing of an agreement with FAVA (Italy), one of the top pasta equipment manufacturers in the world, BUA Foods Plc announced a planned significant expansion of its pasta production factory, in line with its strategic roadmap and unwavering commitment to contributing to food security in Nigeria.

The new project will add nine (9) lines of long-cut pasta (6,000 kgs/hr), increasing the company’s annual production capacity by 400,000 tonnes to 900,000MTpa and making it one of the top pasta producers in Africa.

The project is one of several efforts meant to mitigate the challenges with the country’s food supply. A supplementary deal was also made with Martini (Italy) to supply packaging equipment in support of the expansion project. These follow the signing of a strategic partnership to expand BUA Foods’ grain storage capacity by 100,000 tonnes with Cukurova Silo (Turkiye), a world leader in silo solutions.

To improve customer service, expand its manufacturing footprint, and meet its goals, the company is investing in more pasta lines, packaging, and storage systems.

According to Abdul Samad Rabiu, CFR, CON, Chairman of BUA Foods: “Our manufacturing capacity expansion will continue to enable us to extend the boundaries of what we can produce and deliver, supporting our nation’s development by providing solutions to ongoing food shortages.”

Continuing, he went on to say: “In addition to producing more pasta, we’ll be able to introduce new innovations to support mixed volume growth, while consistently delivering the unrivalled product quality our customers expect.

“The additional 100,000 tonnes of grain storage capacity will enable us to meet the growing demand for our products while strengthening the backbone of our food processing operations by ensuring a reliable and consistent supply of raw materials,” he added.

The company’s agreement with IMAS, a well-known Turkish producer of flour milling equipment, to construct four (4) cutting-edge wheat and flour milling factories, increasing the company’s milling capacity to 2.5 million MTpa, is what prompted the construction of the pasta factory.

After it is finished, the project to increase production capacity will boost the company’s manufacturing dominance and market supremacy while also generating employment, BrandSpur news brand reports.
