A Tradition of Outstanding Athletic Performance With an emphasis on tennis, polo, and golf, FirstBank has been a major force in supporting sports in Nigeria for more than 60 years. Nigeria’s most prestigious international golf competition, the FirstBank Lagos Amateur Open Golf Championship, draws the best amateur players from all over the world. Revealing Ability and Promoting Achievement This esteemed contest has developed into a launching pad for achievement, elevating young professionals to the top.
While some previous winners have found their potential in the tournament’s nurturing setting, many have gone on to become members of the elite professional class. The tournament gives amateur golfers a chance to show off their abilities, get important World Amateur Golf Ranking (WAGR) points, and advance their careers on a global scale.
The Edition for This Year The Ikoyi Club 1938 golf club will host the 63rd FirstBank Lagos Amateur Open Golf Championship from November 18–24, 2024.
Two intriguing elements are introduced in this edition; Search for 4 Stars and Championship Kitty.
The initiative “Search for 4 Stars” aims to develop 150 young, aspirational golfers, ages 18 to 30, who are now employed as caddies at Ikoyi Club. “Championship Kitty” encourages tolerance and diversity by permitting golfers with a handicap of 10 or more to play.
Through the FirstBank SPARK initiative, the net revenues from team entrance fees are contributed to charities and non-governmental organisations as part of the ongoing Corporate Golf Challenge for Charity.
To increase the effect of this year’s tournament, FirstBank has established strategic alliances with organisations that share its values. These partnerships support the Bank’s goals by utilising group knowledge to give competitors and spectators an experience of the highest calibre, BrandSpur national news stories report.
