On Friday, October 18, the annual Ofala Festival, which is supported by the widely recognized telecoms corporation Globacom, gets underway in Onitsha, Anambra State. The Ime Obi, the Palace of the kingdom’s traditional monarch, Igwe Alfred Nnaemeka Achebe, will host the event.
Globacom released a statement available to BrandSpur telecom and IT news on Wednesday, stating that the Azu Ofala will take place on Saturday, October 19, to cap off the festival, which starts on Friday, October 18.
Globacom has announced that it will honor Igwe Achebe with a Royal Banquet on Wednesday, October 23, at the Ime Obi. The main purpose of Ofala, the biggest traditional festival in the southeast of the nation, is for the Igwe and his subjects to celebrate his annual return from seclusion, during which he successfully manages the kingdom’s fortunes and allows the monarch to fulfill certain cultural obligations.
The theme of the 2024 Ofala is “Courage, Perseverance, and Self-Reliance” (Onye kwe, Chi’e ekwe), which embodies the traditional ruler’s message of optimism and fortitude in the face of the current challenges facing the country.
The statement partly reads: “We are proud to once again partner with the Ofala Steering Committee to showcase Nigeria’s rich cultural heritage. The Ofala is a celebration of our nation’s diversity and resilience, and we are honoured to be a part of it.”Compose Message
