The second season trailer for Showmax’s Nigerian Original epic drama series, Cheta M, has been made public. Three new episodes will be released each week starting on Monday, January 6, 2025, when the new season debuts.

Amid the growing conflict between the kingdoms of Mgberi, ruled by the despotic King Jideofor (Kalu Ikeagwu), and Ajaani, ruled by the crafty patriarch Nze Ezeugo (Nonso Odogwu), this epic story centers on the star-crossed love story of Adanna (Oluchi Amajuoyi) and Nnanna (Kingsley Nwachukwu). Ojigijaga (Jsmile Uhuru), the mysterious spiritual shaman of Mgberi, and a web of jealousy, desire, and political intrigue from people in their immediate vicinity pose a serious threat to their relationship.

Adanna and Nwoye’s (Nnamdi Agbo) wedding was marred by several startling disruptions, including unwelcome guests and Chidalu’s (Celia Okechukwu) blatant attempt to stop the ceremony, which ultimately resulted in her death. Season 1 concluded on a dramatic note.

Continuing, throughout Season 2, Nnanna and Adanna’s love story is put to the test once more by their entwined family histories, forgotten memories, and the constant forces that threaten their relationship. They have to decide how much they are prepared to lose and give up for love and the shaky tranquility they long for as they make their way through the mayhem.

According to showrunner James Omokwe, who has received recognition for his work on Africa Magic titles Ajoche, Riona, and Itura as well as Showmax‘s first Nigeria Original, Diiche: “With Cheta M, we’re telling a story that’s rich in culture and layered with suspense, love, and spirituality.

“This season, we wanted to explore not just the drama, but the raw humanity of our characters, their sacrifices, fears, and resilience. We know season one left a lot of questions and curiosity as to what happens next, and I’m looking forward to audiences unravelling the twists and revelations we’ve woven into this epic tale,” Omokwe added.

Showmax’s robust and expanding Original content catalog, which includes recent releases like Princess on a Hill, Wura S3, and Style Magnate, is strengthened by Cheta M’s comeback. Three new episodes of Cheta M Season 2 will be released every week starting on Monday, January 6, 2025.
