NAFDAC Clinches Over N3.8 Billion Worth Of Unregistered Food Items In Lagos

In Lagos State, the National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control (NAFDAC) reported on Tuesday that it had confiscated unregistered food items valued at more than N3.8 billion.

In a statement available to BrandSpur Nigeria news today, the food and drug regulatory body claimed that after receiving a tip regarding the sale of unregistered food items, its Investigation & Enforcement Directorate searched a warehouse in Lagos’ Apongbon Oke Arin Market.

Continuing, the agency has this to say: “Various unregistered items valued at N3,818,802,720 were seized during the operation, and the facility has been placed on hold pending further investigation.

“The warehouse management has been summoned for questioning, and appropriate sanctions will follow after investigations,” NAFDAC added.

NAFDAC reaffirmed its dedication to upholding legal requirements and safeguarding the public’s health.

It stated: “We also urge the public to remain vigilant during the festive season, and report suspicious activities to the nearest NAFDAC office.”
