Dr. Biodun Shobanjo, a pioneer in Nigeria’s advertising sector, has received heartfelt congratulations from President Bola Tinubu on his 80th birthday.
Tinubu characterized Dr. Shobanjo as a highly regarded marketing communications specialist and an advertising master whose work has permanently changed the business in a statement released on Tuesday by his Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, which was available to BrandSpur national news desk.
According to the statement: “Dr. Biodun Shobanjo is not only a titan of the advertising world but also a beacon of excellence and innovation in Nigeria’s marketing communications sector. His dedication to his craft and his pioneering spirit have elevated the industry to new heights.”
Before joining Grant Advertising in 1971, Dr. Shobanjo started his remarkable career with the Nigerian Broadcasting Corporation. He advanced quickly through the ranks, and in 1976 he was appointed Deputy Managing Director. He established Insight Communications four years later, which would transform Nigeria’s advertising industry.
With the establishment of projects like All Seasons Mediacom, Nigeria’s first media independent agency, and Quadrant, the nation’s first public relations consultancy, Insight Communications grew into a marketing powerhouse under Dr. Shobanjo’s direction.
These businesses were eventually combined under the Troyka Organization, which Shobanjo established in 1992 and which also includes Halogen Security. President Tinubu emphasized Dr. Shobanjo’s contributions to the country’s development, especially in the field of marketing communications, which is essential to social advancement, economic expansion, and infrastructure development.
Continuing, he said: “Dr. Shobanjo’s accomplishments as a broadcaster, entrepreneur, and advertising professional exemplify discipline, integrity, and dedication. These virtues not only define his career but also inspire countless young professionals in the field.”
President Tinubu remarked that he was confident in Dr. Shobanjo’s ability to continue to have an impact on the industry.
He went on to say: “I am certain that Dr. Shobanjo will remain a guiding light, sharing his vast knowledge and insights with practitioners striving to uphold best practices rooted in truth, local content promotion, and transparency—values that align with Nigeria’s development goals.”
Tinubu celebrated Shobanjo’s remarkable history and wished him “many more years of good health, happiness, and continued success” as he wrapped up his remarks.
