Through several high-impact projects aimed at motivating action for gender equality and sustainable development, UNITY Bank Plc has renewed its dedication to women’s empowerment.
As part of the Unity Bank Women Network’s celebration of this year’s International Women’s Day, the bank held a webinar with the topic “Unleashing Women’s Potential.” The webinar accessed by BrandSpur banking and finance news desk, featured prominent female leaders, such as Gbemi Olateru-Olagbegi, a Nigerian entrepreneur and media personality, and Oluwabusayo Adegoke, a certified life coach and strategy consultant, who shared perspectives on women’s leadership, financial inclusion, and breaking barriers in male-dominated industries. The webinar is part of the bank’s thought leadership on self-reliance, opportunity, and equity.
Professionals, business owners, and young women had the chance to learn important lessons about both professional and personal growth during the event. Unity Bank also highlighted women who have made important contributions to their communities, especially those who are bringing about change through financial empowerment, mentoring, and education.
Tejumoluwa Olaobaju, an Activist spearheading the fight against period poverty in her community; Abisoye Ajayi-Akinfolarin, a trailblazer empowering girls through technology; and Chioma Ohakwe, a champion of inclusivity and women’s empowerment through focused skill acquisition programs for women and girls.
Unity Bank’s Chief Compliance Officer and Chair of the Unity Bank Women’s Network, Mrs Particia Ahunanya, spoke about the bank’s dedication to gender justice.
According to her: “Our commitment to financial inclusion and gender equity has made Unity Bank remain in the vanguard of championing opportunities for empowering women across all sectors.
“This is in view of the realisation that women are crucial drivers of economic growth and societal transformation. Through initiatives like the ‘Unleashing Women’s Potential’ webinar and our community spotlights, the bank is focused on promoting more initiatives to drive impact among the female gender,” she added.
The IWD 2025 programs of Unity Bank are in line with its overarching goal of assisting women in entrepreneurship, business, and leadership roles. The bank is dedicated to promoting financial inclusion and enabling women to actively engage in economic and financial systems through gender-focused programs, especially with products like the Yanga Account.
However, Unity Bank wants to give women equal possibilities to prosper by offering specialised financial solutions. The Bank urges industry stakeholders to step up efforts to build a more limitless and inclusive society as the global dialogue on gender equality continues to pick up steam.
