Air Peace Cease Flights Operations As NiMet Embarks On Strike

Due to a strike by the Nigerian Meteorological Agency (NiMet), Air Peace has halted all flight operations throughout Nigeria. Earlier, the Nigerian Meteorological Agency (NiMet) employees had announced a nationwide, indefinite strike at all of the nation’s airports.

The workers are calling for the government to reconsider their terms of service so they can carry out their jobs efficiently and are requesting better benefit packages and fair treatment. When announcing the suspension of flight operations throughout Nigeria on Wednesday, Air Peace said that the decision was made for the safety of its passengers because safe flight landings during the rainy season depend on NiMet’s weather updates, especially the Current Nowcast of Hazardous Weather (CNH) reports available to BrandSpur Nigeria news.

According to the statement: “We regret to inform you that due to the ongoing strike by the Nigerian Meteorological Agency (NiMet), Air Peace is suspending all flight operations nationwide with immediate effect. This decision is necessary because NiMet is the agency responsible for issuing CNH (Current Nowcast of Hazardous Weather) reports, which are critical for safe landings, especially during this season of heavy rainfall and thunderstorms.

“Without these reports from the control tower, flight safety cannot be guaranteed. As a safety-first airline, we have chosen to act responsibly by suspending operations until NiMet resumes full service,” the statement added.

However, Air Peace expressed regret for any inconvenience the change may have caused and promised to notify passengers of any rescheduling information as soon as it becomes available.
