The voluntary, precautionary recall announced in certain international markets did not apply to Nestlé Nigeria Plc‘s infant formula sold in the country, the company has explained.

According to the company, Nestlé Nigeria’s products were not affected by the recall, which only impacted certain batches distributed outside of Nigeria.

In a statement released Friday in Lagos, available to BrandSpur news brand, Toju Egbebi, the company’s Corporate Affairs Manager, provided this clarification. She revealed that the National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control (NAFDAC) has an official registration for every Nestlé infant formula product sold locally.

Egbebi claims that the impacted products mentioned in reports or online are not available in Nigeria. She said: “We would like to reassure consumers that all SMA and NAN product ranges sold by Nestlé Nigeria are safe for consumption.”

Continuing, in her listing, she identified the products as NAN Optipro 1, NAN Optipro 2, and NAN Optipro 3. She emphasised that Nestlé Nigeria closely adheres to regional and global food safety and quality regulations.

She said: “The safety and quality of our products, and the health of babies, remain our top priorities.”

When in doubt, she advised customers to rely on verified information and seek clarification from Nestlé Nigeria or regulatory bodies.
