ValueJet Launches VIKI, Africa’s First AI-Powered Airline Concierge

ValueJet Airline has taken a major step in transforming air travel in Nigeria with the introduction of VIKI, an artificial intelligence-driven digital concierge designed to simplify flight booking and enhance the overall passenger experience.

The airline announced on Tuesday that VIKI marks the first AI concierge of this scale in Africa, positioning ValueJet as one of the continent’s most innovative carriers. The tool allows passengers to manage, personalise, and monitor their travel entirely from mobile devices, offering a seamless alternative to traditional airport or website interactions.

Brandspur Banking News Desk reports that VIKI is multilingual and both text- and voice-enabled, with the capability to respond verbally to commands, making it especially accessible to visually impaired travellers. The service is available via widely used messaging apps like WhatsApp and Telegram, enabling passengers to book flights, adjust reservations, check in online, receive real-time travel updates, and access customer support without leaving home. To start, travellers simply save 09160012700 on their phones and begin chatting.

ValueJet’s Managing Director, Omololu Majekodunmi, stated, “VIKI is more than a digital assistant; she reflects our commitment to smarter, safer, and more seamless travel experiences across Africa. This launch addresses persistent challenges in the aviation sector, including speed, convenience, and accessibility.”

Temitope Ajijola, Head of Business Programme and IT at ValueJet, added, “Our vision has always been to make flight booking intuitive. VIKI elevates this experience, allowing passengers to say, ‘Viki, I need a direct flight to Abuja tomorrow,’ and complete their booking, payment, seat selection, and boarding pass generation within minutes.”

The AI assistant also provides a full self-service experience, from digital boarding passes to real-time answers on baggage allowances, fare rules, and other travel-related concerns, effectively reducing wait times and eliminating the need for phone calls or in-person service.

Trevor Henry, ValueJet’s Chief Commercial Officer, emphasised, “This launch represents a significant leap in passenger engagement, giving travellers greater control, flexibility, and speed throughout their journey.”

With VIKI, ValueJet is advancing its broader digital transformation agenda, putting customers at the centre of every service touchpoint while setting a new benchmark for airline innovation in Nigeria and Africa.
