Turkish Airlines Marks 500th Aircraft Milestone With Special Livery Honouring 100,000 Employees

Turkish Airlines, celebrated for operating one of Europe’s youngest fleets, has unveiled its 500th aircraft, named ‘TK Family’, at Istanbul Airport, marking a historic milestone in the airline’s growth journey since 1933. The special aircraft livery features images of Turkish Airlines’ 100,000 employees and retirees, symbolising the unity and dedication of the airline’s workforce.

The event brought together senior executives, former officials, employees, retirees, and notable figures from the global aviation sector. Children of martyrs from all 81 provinces of Türkiye, alongside the cast of the airline’s iconic “Iğdır (When You Dream)” commercial, were also present, highlighting the airline’s commitment to shared growth and community spirit.

Brandspur Brand News reports that Turkish Airlines Chairman of the Board and Executive Committee, Prof. Ahmet Bolat, described the 500th aircraft as a symbol of 93 years of vision, commitment, and strategic growth. “Twelve years ago, when we filmed our ‘When You Dream’ commercial with 247 aircraft, reaching 500 aircraft was a distant vision. Today, the TK Family aircraft not only marks a milestone but begins the ‘Second 500’ era as we aim for a fleet of 1,000 aircraft by 2036,” Bolat said.

The milestone celebration included a ceremonial flight under flight number TK500, with the aircraft tracing the number 500 across the sky, carrying children of martyrs, executives, and employees. The event also featured aircraft representing key fleet milestones: the 100th in 2006, 200th in 2012, 300th in 2016, and 400th in 2023, alongside a full-scale replica of the airline’s inaugural plane.

The 500th aircraft demonstrates Turkish Airlines’ ongoing commitment to fleet modernisation, operational efficiency, and passenger comfort. With over 356 destinations across six continents, the airline continues to strengthen its position as a global aviation leader while leveraging its heritage and workforce to drive sustainable growth.

As Turkish Airlines moves confidently into its next era, the ‘Second 500’ initiative underscores the airline’s long-term vision, ambitious fleet expansion, and dedication to “growing together, rising together.”
