The Beer Sectoral Group (BSG), a key body within the Manufacturers Association of Nigeria (MAN) representing Nigeria’s brewing companies, has announced the appointment of Mr. Thibaut Boidin, Managing Director/CEO of Nigerian Breweries Plc, as its new Chairman, effective March 5, 2026. He succeeds Mr. Carlos Coutino, who previously led the group.
Brandspur Brand News reports that under his leadership, Mr. Boidin will work closely with the Board of CEOs to provide strategic guidance aimed at advancing critical priorities within Nigeria’s beer industry. Key focus areas include promoting sustainable category growth, ensuring commercial freedom through balanced fiscal policies, and strengthening the sector’s long-term competitiveness in the Nigerian beverages market.
Speaking on his appointment, Mr. Boidin said, “I am honoured by the confidence reposed in me by my industry peers. With over three million jobs supported across the value chain, the beer sector plays a vital role in Nigeria’s manufacturing and economic ecosystem through investment, local value creation, responsible consumption, and sustainable contributions to government revenue. As Chairman, my focus will be to collaborate with MAN, government, and stakeholders to unlock category growth, enable fair competition, and foster a predictable fiscal environment where legitimate manufacturers can thrive.”
Mr. Boidin brings extensive international leadership experience spanning nine countries. He joined the HEINEKEN Group in 2017, serving as Deputy Managing Director of France Boissons, followed by Chief Transformation Officer roles in HEINEKEN France and HEINEKEN Europe. He later served as Managing Director of HEINEKEN Romania before assuming leadership at Nigerian Breweries Plc. His earlier career includes senior executive roles in leading French organisations such as Elis and Veolia, as well as service as an officer in the French Armed Forces.
The Beer Sectoral Group acknowledged the contributions of outgoing Chairman Mr. Carlos Coutino, expressing gratitude for his dedicated service and achievements in advancing BSG’s objectives.
Mr. Boidin’s appointment signals a renewed focus on sustainable growth, sector competitiveness, and strategic collaboration with regulators and stakeholders to enhance Nigeria’s beer industry.
