CWAY Drinking Water Science & Technology Company has reaffirmed its commitment to providing safe, reliable, and affordable drinking water to Nigerians as it joined the global community in commemorating World Water Day 2026.

At an event held at the company’s Lagos headquarters, CWAY highlighted the importance of equitable access to clean water, aligning its message with this year’s theme, which emphasised the link between water access, gender equality, and sustainable development.

Brandspur Brand News reports that the commemoration brought together stakeholders from academia, industry, and the education sector, serving as a platform for the company to showcase its ongoing investments in water safety, distribution infrastructure, and community engagement programmes across the country.

Company executives noted that beyond producing bottled and refillable water products, CWAY’s operations have contributed significantly to job creation through its production facilities, distribution network, and logistics partnerships that support last-mile delivery to homes and businesses.

Management also highlighted ongoing upgrades to its production and refill systems, describing them as key measures aimed at improving convenience for consumers while reducing water wastage and promoting more sustainable consumption patterns.

In separate remarks, senior marketing executives stressed that access to potable water remains a shared social responsibility, noting that water is central to daily living, public health, and economic productivity, and should not be treated as a resource limited by gender roles or socio-economic status.

The event featured a keynote lecture delivered by a marine science academic from the University of Lagos, who warned of increasing pressure on freshwater resources due to population growth, climate change, and inadequate infrastructure, urging both government and private sector players to intensify efforts to secure long-term water sustainability.

As part of its outreach activities, CWAY organised a national essay competition for secondary school students focused on water sustainability and gender inclusion. The initiative attracted entries from schools in Lagos and Ogun states, with top performers receiving cash prizes, water dispensers, and product supplies as recognition for their ideas and advocacy.

Beyond Lagos, the company extended its World Water Day activities to other regions, including community engagement in Enugu, where free bottled water was distributed in major markets, and an awareness walk in Abuja designed to educate residents on responsible water use and conservation.

CWAY said it will continue to integrate advocacy, youth engagement, and infrastructure investment into its corporate social responsibility strategy, positioning itself not only as a manufacturer of drinking water but also as an active participant in national conversations around water security, sustainability, and public health.
