Marriott International has concluded its long-standing global beverage partnership with PepsiCo, replacing it with a new exclusive agreement that will see Coca-Cola products served across the hotel group’s worldwide portfolio of more than 10,000 properties in 146 countries and territories.
The agreement, which began rolling out on July 1, marks one of the hospitality industry’s biggest beverage partnership changes in recent years. Under the deal, Coca-Cola will become Marriott’s exclusive beverage supplier, providing a broad range of products, including carbonated soft drinks, hydration beverages and other non-alcoholic offerings to guests across its hotels and resorts.
The transition is expected to have notable implications for Marriott’s operations in Africa, where the company has continued to expand its hotel footprint in key markets. Brandspur Brand News understands that Coca-Cola’s beverage portfolio will gradually be introduced across Marriott properties on the continent as part of the phased global implementation.
The partnership also strengthens Coca-Cola’s presence in the global hospitality sector by securing exclusive distribution rights across one of the world’s largest hotel networks. The expanded relationship is expected to increase the beverage company’s visibility among millions of business and leisure travellers who visit Marriott properties each year.
For PepsiCo, the move brings an end to a commercial relationship that lasted more than three decades. While the change is unlikely to significantly affect the company’s overall global revenues, industry observers note that losing exclusive access to Marriott’s extensive hotel network represents a notable shift in brand exposure and distribution opportunities within the hospitality industry.
Marriott International operates thousands of hotels under multiple brands worldwide and has continued to invest in growth across emerging markets, including several African countries. The phased rollout of Coca-Cola products is expected to continue throughout Marriott’s global portfolio over the coming months as the new partnership takes full effect.
