PZ Cussons Cites Economic Expansion In Nigeria To Keep Its African Business Running

PZ Cussons Nigeria Plc has posted a strong financial performance for the year ended 31 May 2026, reporting revenue of ₦260.46 billion, a 22 per cent increase from ₦212.63 billion recorded in the previous financial year, as improved sales volumes, pricing initiatives and operational efficiencies boosted earnings.

The consumer goods manufacturer also delivered a sharp rise in profitability, with profit climbing to ₦49.10 billion from ₦10.07 billion a year earlier, representing a 388 per cent year-on-year increase. The latest unaudited financial statements released on the Nigerian Exchange showed the company strengthened its financial position while maintaining growth across its key business segments.

The results, reviewed by Brandspur Brand News, indicate that production costs accounted for 72 per cent of revenue, an improvement from the previous year as supply chain optimisation and a stronger product mix helped reduce cost pressures. At the same time, investments in marketing, distribution and administration increased as the company expanded commercial activities and supported its brands.

PZ Cussons also recorded a significant turnaround in its balance sheet during the financial year. The company’s net asset position improved from a deficit of ₦17.3 billion at the beginning of the year to a positive ₦70.6 billion by year-end, reflecting stronger cash generation and tighter working capital management.

Chief Executive Officer Oghale Elueni said the performance demonstrated the resilience of the business despite Nigeria’s challenging operating environment. He noted that revenue growth was supported by a combination of higher sales volumes and pricing actions, while continued investment in leading brands and strengthened routes to market helped increase household penetration and market share across major product categories.

According to the company, both its electrical appliances and consumer goods businesses recorded volume growth during the period, contributing to overall revenue expansion and improved profitability.

The company added that it remains optimistic about sustaining growth despite ongoing global geopolitical uncertainties and economic headwinds, stating that its established brands, disciplined operating model and strengthened financial position provide a solid foundation for creating long-term value for shareholders.

PZ Cussons Nigeria, headquartered in Ilupeju, Lagos, has operated in the country for more than 127 years and manufactures widely recognised household brands including Morning Fresh, Premier, Cussons Baby, Carex, Imperial Leather and Canoe. Its latest financial performance underscores the company’s recovery momentum as it continues to navigate Nigeria’s evolving consumer goods market.
