First Bank Appoints Julius Omodayo-Owotuga As Executive Director To Drive Strategic Growth

Nigerian Aviation Handling Company (NAHCO) Plc has strengthened its board with the appointment of FirstBank Executive Director Dr. Julius B. Omodayo-Owotuga and Senior Advocate of Nigeria Wolemi Esan as Non-Executive Directors, effective July 1, 2026.

The appointments follow the retirement of board members Akinwumi Godson Fanimokun and Taofeeq Oluwatoyin Salman, according to a regulatory filing issued by the company. NAHCO also named Tajudeen Omoshola Shobayo as its new Vice Chairman, succeeding Fanimokun after his retirement from the position.

The board changes form part of the company’s ongoing governance and leadership renewal as it continues to strengthen oversight with experienced professionals from the banking, legal and corporate sectors. Brandspur Brand News reports that Fanimokun remains a significant shareholder in NAHCO despite stepping down from the board due to age considerations.

Omodayo-Owotuga joins the aviation handling company with more than two decades of experience across banking, infrastructure finance, energy, auditing and corporate transformation. He currently serves as Executive Director at First Bank of Nigeria Limited and previously held senior leadership positions at Geregu Power Plc, Ardova Plc, Africa Finance Corporation, Standard Chartered Bank and KPMG.

He is recognised for his role in driving operational improvements and governance reforms at several leading Nigerian companies. His academic qualifications include a Doctorate in Business Administration from Saïd Business School, an MBA from IE Business School and a degree in Accounting from the University of Lagos.

Esan brings extensive legal and corporate governance expertise to the board. The Deputy Managing Partner at Olaniwun Ajayi has advised financial institutions, multinational companies and government agencies on commercial litigation, arbitration, mergers and acquisitions, capital markets, infrastructure development and public-private partnership projects.

His experience also covers major transportation and infrastructure transactions, including rail, airport and port concession projects. Esan holds a law degree from Lagos State University, a Master of Laws from University College London and an MBA from Durham University.

The latest appointments come weeks after FirstBank announced Omodayo-Owotuga’s elevation to Executive Director, further highlighting his growing influence within Nigeria’s corporate and financial services sectors.
