Rev Funke Adejumo Advises Married Men Not To Wear Themselves Out Trying To Please Their Wives

Nigerian preacher and marriage counsellor Reverend Funke Felix-Adejumo has urged married men to avoid placing excessive pressure on themselves in an effort to satisfy their wives, saying husbands should remain committed to their families without sacrificing their health or wellbeing.

Speaking during a church sermon, the cleric said men should strive to fulfil their responsibilities at home but recognise that no individual can completely meet every expectation in a marriage. She encouraged husbands to focus on giving their best rather than exhausting themselves in pursuit of perfection.

Addressing the realities of marriage from a woman’s perspective, Brandspur Brand News reports that Felix-Adejumo said women often seek continuous improvement in different aspects of life, using beauty and personal grooming as examples to illustrate her point. According to her, this tendency means husbands should not measure their worth by their ability to satisfy every desire or expectation.

She advised men to prioritise their physical and emotional wellbeing while maintaining their commitment to their families, stressing that responsible leadership in the home should not come at the expense of their lives.

Turning her attention to women, the preacher encouraged wives to build financial independence instead of relying solely on their husbands for financial support. She said women should develop sustainable sources of income that would allow them to contribute meaningfully to their households and occasionally surprise their spouses with thoughtful gifts.

Drawing from her own marriage, Felix-Adejumo shared that she had presented numerous gifts to her husband on a milestone birthday, using the experience to encourage women to cultivate financial capacity and generosity within their relationships.

She concluded by urging women to pursue economic empowerment and avoid lifestyles built entirely around waiting for their husbands to provide, describing financial independence as an important part of a balanced and supportive marriage.
