First National Bank (FNB) has appointed Linda Kachingwe-Sisya as its new Chief Marketing Officer (CMO), marking a significant leadership transition as the lender strengthens its brand strategy and customer engagement agenda. She succeeds Faye Mfikwe, whose nearly two decades with the bank helped shape one of South Africa’s most recognised financial services brands.
Kachingwe-Sisya will oversee FNB’s brand management, marketing operations and corporate affairs, with responsibility for reinforcing the bank’s market position while ensuring its products and services remain aligned with the changing expectations of retail and business customers.
Before her elevation, Kachingwe-Sisya led marketing and communications for FNB’s Africa and International business, overseeing initiatives across multiple African markets as well as key global locations, including the United Kingdom, the United States, India and China. Brandspur Brand News understands the appointment reflects the bank’s preference for promoting experienced internal leaders into strategic executive roles.
Her appointment comes as banks across Africa continue investing heavily in digital banking, customer experience and brand differentiation amid increasing competition from fintech firms and evolving consumer preferences. Marketing leadership has become increasingly central to driving customer acquisition, loyalty and long-term business growth in the financial services sector.
FNB said the leadership change underscores confidence in Kachingwe-Sisya’s experience in building brands across diverse markets and navigating rapidly changing customer expectations. Her international exposure is expected to support the bank’s next phase of growth while maintaining continuity in its communications and corporate reputation.
In her new position, Kachingwe-Sisya is expected to build on the bank’s established brand identity while advancing marketing initiatives that reinforce innovation, customer value and community impact. She also aims to strengthen FNB’s market presence by ensuring the institution’s brand continues to evolve alongside changing business and consumer needs.
The appointment follows the departure of long-serving marketing executive Faye Mfikwe after 19 years at FNB, closing a significant chapter in the bank’s leadership history. The transition is expected to ensure continuity in the lender’s strategic marketing direction while positioning the organisation for sustained growth across its domestic and international operations.
