GTBank Kenya Managing Director Jubril Adeniji To Exit As GTCO Announces Leadership Transition

Guaranty Trust Bank (Kenya) has announced that its Managing Director, Jubril Adeniji, will step down following the completion of his tenure after being recalled to the group’s parent bank in Nigeria for a new assignment within GTCO.

The lender confirmed that Adeniji will remain in office for the next 90 days to oversee a structured transition process while the bank completes regulatory procedures for the appointment of a new Managing Director. The move forms part of an executive leadership reshuffle within the GTCO Group and comes amid broader changes across Kenya’s banking sector.

During his time at the helm, Adeniji led several strategic initiatives aimed at strengthening the bank’s governance framework, improving asset quality, reinforcing internal controls and advancing long-term business growth. Brandspur Banking News Desk reports that the bank also credited him with strengthening its leadership team and positioning the institution for sustained expansion in the Kenyan market.

GTBank Kenya said it expects operations to continue without disruption throughout the transition, assuring customers, regulators, shareholders and employees that the institution remains financially stable and committed to delivering quality banking services.

The leadership change coincides with increased executive movement across Kenya’s banking industry as financial institutions reposition for growth amid rising competition and regional expansion. Several lenders have recently announced changes in top management as they seek to strengthen their strategic direction and improve operational performance.

In recent weeks, major banks in Kenya have unveiled new leadership appointments, reflecting a wider trend of succession planning and corporate restructuring within the country’s financial services sector.

Adeniji’s return to Nigeria underscores GTCO’s continued approach of deploying experienced executives across its operations in different African markets to support the group’s long-term growth strategy and leadership development across its banking subsidiaries.
