Leadway Group Trains Journalists On AI, Financial Literacy And Digital Economy In 2026

Leadway Group has organised a strategic capacity-building programme for Nigerian journalists, equipping media professionals with knowledge on artificial intelligence, financial literacy, insurance, pensions and economic reporting to improve public understanding of the country’s evolving financial landscape.

The training, held on 16 July 2026, brought together Leadway executives and technology experts to strengthen journalists’ ability to report accurately on emerging technologies and complex financial issues while supporting broader financial inclusion across Nigeria.

According to Brandspur Brand News, participants received practical insights into how artificial intelligence is reshaping journalism and publishing, with experts stressing that AI should enhance newsroom productivity rather than replace editorial judgement. The sessions also encouraged media organisations to adopt responsible AI practices to safeguard credibility and combat misinformation.

The programme further explored the digital transformation of Nigeria’s insurance industry, highlighting the need for technology-driven products, automated claims processing and customer-focused services to improve insurance penetration. Discussions also covered the implementation of the National Health Insurance Authority Act, retirement planning, wealth transfer, succession planning for family businesses and strategies for interpreting key economic indicators.

Leadway executives urged journalists to rely on primary data sources when reporting economic developments, noting that accurate and well-contextualised reporting is essential for helping Nigerians understand inflation, economic growth, financial markets and public policy.

The initiative reflects Leadway Group’s commitment to promoting financial education and responsible journalism by strengthening collaboration between the financial services industry and the media. The company said empowering journalists with deeper knowledge of artificial intelligence, finance and the economy will contribute to more informed public discourse and improved financial literacy across the country.
