Airtel Nigeria has commenced the nationwide rollout of its new Single-Seater Shops, introducing a compact retail model designed to bring telecom products and customer support services closer to subscribers in communities across the country.
The initiative officially began with the opening of the first outlet at City Mall in Onikan, Lagos, as the telecommunications company moves to expand its physical presence beyond conventional service centres. The smaller-format stores are expected to improve access to essential services in both urban and underserved locations.
The new retail concept enables customers to purchase SIM cards, recharge airtime, activate data plans and receive customer support without visiting larger service centres. According to Brandspur Brand News, the rollout forms part of Airtel Nigeria’s broader customer experience strategy aimed at increasing convenience while complementing its growing portfolio of digital self-service channels.
Unlike traditional outlets that require larger infrastructure and are concentrated in commercial districts, the Single-Seater Shops are designed for neighbourhood locations, allowing the company to establish more customer touchpoints in areas where access to telecom retail services has been limited.
Airtel said the expansion reflects continued demand for in-person support despite increasing adoption of digital platforms. Services such as SIM registration, account enquiries and other customer care requests remain important reasons many subscribers prefer visiting physical retail locations.
The telecommunications operator plans to extend the initiative to additional states as part of its nationwide expansion programme, targeting both densely populated cities and communities with fewer formal telecom service outlets.
With the rollout underway, Airtel Nigeria expects the Single-Seater Shops to strengthen its retail network, improve customer engagement and support wider access to mobile connectivity services across the country.
