
The Headies has tapped travel technology company Wakanow as a key partner for its 18th edition in Toronto, creating travel opportunities for guests attending the landmark event as the prestigious music awards returns to Canada under the “Africa to the World” theme.
The partnership was unveiled at The Headies: Road to Toronto reception in Lagos, where industry stakeholders gathered to mark the countdown to the awards ceremony. Brandspur Entertainment & Lifestyle News understands that the collaboration forms part of broader preparations for the international edition, with travel playing a central role in connecting Nigeria’s creative community to the Toronto showcase.
Ayo Animashaun, Founder and CEO of The Headies, highlighted the significance of the new travel connection, pointing to the recent announcement of direct flights between Nigeria and Canada as a groundbreaking development. He expressed pride that The Headies is part of this new chapter, creating a stronger connection between Nigeria’s creative community and Canada.
As part of the partnership, three attendees at the reception were selected through a special draw to receive tickets to Toronto. Adeyinka Adebayo, Group Executive Director at Omnicom Media Group, and Samuel Obafemi Banjomo, SSA to the Honourable Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development, received Economy Class tickets, while Dami Adenuga, Founder of DAW Empire, was awarded a Business Class ticket.
Bayo Adedeji, Group CEO of Wakanow, said the company’s role is to take African stars and their music and culture across continents as they go global. He expressed pride in being part of the journey with Animashaun and The Headies team, adding that Wakanow is excited to open the world to its customers and Africa’s creative community.
The partnership strengthens the travel support around The Headies’ international expansion, making it easier for guests, industry stakeholders and members of the wider creative community to participate in the 18th edition in Toronto.
