President Bola Tinubu has congratulated former First Bank of Nigeria Group Chief Executive Officer, Dr Adesola Kazeem Adeduntan, on his installation as the Balogun of Oyo.
Adeduntan was formally installed in the traditional position by the Alaafin of Oyo, Oba Abimbola Akeem Owoade I, on Saturday, September 5, 2026.
Tinubu described the appointment as a significant responsibility and urged the former banking executive to apply his professional experience and leadership skills to serving the Alaafin, the Oyo Kingdom and its people.
Brandspur Politics reports that the President’s message was contained in a statement issued by his Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga.
The President highlighted Adeduntan’s career in banking and finance, particularly his years at the helm of First Bank, where he oversaw a period of transformation at one of Nigeria’s oldest financial institutions.
Beyond banking, Adeduntan has remained involved in education, enterprise and philanthropy. He serves as Pro-Chancellor and Chairman of the Governing Council of Abiola Ajimobi Technical University.
Through the Adesola Adeduntan Foundation, he has also invested in primary healthcare facilities serving communities in Oyo and Ibadan, alongside interests in Nigeria’s solid minerals sector.
Tinubu said the traditional title should be regarded not simply as recognition but as an opportunity for greater service to the people.
He encouraged Adeduntan to use his experience, influence and resources to support peace, development and economic opportunities while contributing to the preservation of the cultural heritage of the Oyo Kingdom.
The Balogun title carries historical significance within Yoruba traditional institutions and is associated with leadership and service to the kingdom.
Adeduntan’s installation adds a prominent traditional responsibility to a career that has spanned banking, corporate leadership, education and philanthropy.
