OneHealth Opens Lumina Creator Contest To Nigerians, Targets Wider Health Access

OneHealth has opened its Lumina Creator Contest to the general public, expanding the initiative beyond students as the digital healthcare platform seeks to increase awareness of its AI powered health assistant among Nigerians.

The contest is inviting participants to create content that introduces Lumina and explains how it can be used through WhatsApp without requiring users to download a separate application or create an account.

Brandspur Brand News reports that Lumina allows users to ask everyday health questions, seek information about medicines and healthcare products, place orders and request assistance from a licensed pharmacist or doctor when human support is required.

The platform also supports Màámi, OneHealth’s maternal and sexual health initiative, while medication guidance and general health enquiries make up a significant share of the questions received through the service.

OneHealth founder and Chief Executive Officer, Adeola Alli, said the decision to open the contest beyond students was driven by the need to reach a wider audience with a service designed around everyday health concerns.

The company’s wider healthcare offering includes an online pharmacy, PillFinda wholesale marketplace, Pillmova logistics arm, The Method weight management programme and the Imani wearable breast pump. Its delivery network serves patients, HMOs and pharmacy partners.

The public contest comes against the backdrop of limited access to pharmacy services in Nigeria. A Digital Health Africa analysis cited by OneHealth puts the country’s pharmacist to population ratio at one pharmacist for every 13,385 people, compared with the World Health Organisation’s recommended ratio of one pharmacist for every 2,000 people.

For OneHealth, the Lumina initiative is positioned as an additional point of access for people seeking reliable answers to initial health questions, rather than a replacement for professional medical care.

The company said it plans to take Lumina to campuses including the University of Ibadan and the University of Lagos after the contest, building on community outreach carried out through Màámi.

The expansion is expected to give more Nigerians an opportunity to interact with the service at a time when access to healthcare information and professional guidance remains a challenge for many people.

Nigerians interested in the contest, as well as universities, student organisations, NGOs and corporate partners interested in future campus activities, can obtain participation details through OneHealth’s official channels.
