Handi Launches Lagos Platform Connecting Users to Vetted Service Providers

A new technology platform, Handi, has launched in Lagos to connect households and businesses with screened service providers, allowing customers to compare quotes before choosing who handles their jobs.

The platform targets everyday services such as plumbing, electrical repairs, cleaning and business support, where customers often rely on personal recommendations or social media groups to find workers.

Unlike the traditional approach of contacting providers individually, Handi allows users to post a job and receive competing offers from service professionals. Customers can then make their choice based on quoted prices and ratings, while payments are held until the work is confirmed complete.

Brandspur Brand News reports that the Lagos-based platform requires service providers to undergo a screening process before joining its network. The company says this is intended to address concerns about reliability and the quality of services in a market where customers may struggle to verify a worker’s track record before hiring them.

Handi co-founder Adejare Nathaniel said the platform was developed in response to common complaints about unreliable workers, unexpected charges and poorly completed jobs. His co-founder, Kolade Bisolu, identified provider screening as a central part of the company’s approach.

The launch comes amid the importance of informal businesses to Nigeria’s employment landscape. A Jobberman report produced with the Mastercard Foundation puts the informal sector’s share of employment in the country at 76.7 per cent. Moniepoint’s 2025 Informal Economy Report also identifies the South-West as a major centre of informal business activity, with Lagos accounting for 16 per cent of the country’s informal businesses.

Handi says its platform could help artisans, technicians and other service professionals reach more customers and build reputations through ratings and completed jobs.

The service is available across Lagos, with users able to post jobs and compare quotes for free. Customers pay after selecting a provider and confirming that the work has been completed.

The app is available on the Apple App Store and Google Play, while further information can be found on the company’s website, tryhandi.com.
