Google Launches Fitbit Edge With Seven-Day Battery Life and Advanced Health Tracking

Google has unveiled the Fitbit Edge, a new fitness tracker with advanced health monitoring, built-in GPS and up to seven days of battery life, as the company expands its wearable technology range for fitness enthusiasts and everyday users.

Announced on October 12, 2026, the device combines workout tracking, sleep analysis and personalised health insights in a slim design. Google has priced the standard Fitbit Edge at $179.99, with pre-orders open through the Google Store and retail partners ahead of its planned arrival in shops on October 27.

According to the Brandspur Brand News Desk, the tracker is designed to bridge the gap between feature-rich smartwatches and simpler fitness bands, offering users detailed health and exercise information without the bulk of a larger device.

The Fitbit Edge features a Hybrid OLED display with 46 per cent more viewing area than previous Fitbit trackers. Its 11.5mm-thick profile is built around a recycled aluminium case, while a redesigned physical button allows users to access controls such as workout settings quickly.

For people who exercise regularly, the device supports more than 50 workout modes, including running, Pilates and high-intensity interval training. Its built-in GPS is designed to improve tracking accuracy by up to 40 per cent compared with previous generations, while an altimeter records elevation changes during outdoor activities.

The tracker can also automatically recognise and categorise up to 100 types of workouts, allowing users to record activities even when they forget to start tracking manually.

Beyond exercise, the device monitors heart rate, sleep stages, heart rate variability and skin temperature. Its ECG application enables users to carry out heart rhythm assessments from their wrist, while high and low heart rate alerts provide additional health information.

Google has also introduced Health Guardian features intended to monitor trends associated with blood pressure and insulin resistance. The company says users with a Google Health Premium subscription can receive personalised wellness guidance based on changes in their tracked patterns. These features provide monitoring insights rather than replacing medical diagnosis or professional care.

Battery performance is another selling point. Google says the Fitbit Edge can last up to seven days on a single charge, while five minutes of fast magnetic charging can provide up to a full day of battery life. The device is water-resistant to 50 metres and is the company’s first repairable fitness tracker, with a modular internal design and replaceable battery.

The tracker will be available in four finishes: Obsidian, Fog, Olive and Canyon. Users can also choose from interchangeable straps, including sport, loop, magnetic and metal-link options.

Google has announced a separate Stephen Curry Special Edition, developed with the four-time NBA champion and the company’s performance adviser. Featuring the basketball player’s signature colour scheme, the edition will retail for $219.99.

Buyers of the standard Fitbit Edge will receive three months of Google Health Premium at no additional cost. The launch adds another option for consumers seeking wearable technology that combines fitness tracking, health data and everyday smartphone features in a compact device.
