Microsoft Word 101: How To Convert Word Doc To PDF

0

For a long time, Adobe’s PDF file format has been the format for legal and business documents, largely because they most closely resemble their hardcopy versions — and because they can be locked down relatively easily so that no changes can be made.

But while PDFs are great for producing accurate digital versions of paper documents, you can also very easily create a PDF out of an ordinary Word document as well.

SAVE A WORD FILE TO A PDF FROM MICROSOFT WORD

As you might imagine, creating a PDF from a Word document is very easy when you do it using Microsoft Word.

ON A DESKTOP / LAPTOP

  • Open the document in Word.
  • Click on File > Save as > Download as PDF.

ON AN ANDROID DEVICE

  • Tap on the three dots in the upper-right corner.
  • Select Share as PDF.
  • Choose where you want to share the file.

ON AN IOS DEVICE

  • Tap on the three dots in the upper-right corner.
  • Select Export > PDF.
  • Name your new file and select where you want to save it.

SAVE A WORD FILE TO A PDF FROM GOOGLE DOCS

If you use Google Docs instead and are faced with a Word file that you need to convert into a PDF, that’s not a problem. Google Docs can accommodate Word files quite nicely. And, once they are uploaded into Docs, it can spit them back as PDF files. However, the process isn’t quite as straightforward.

ON A DESKTOP / LAPTOP

  • Open a new document in Google Docs.
  • Select File > Open > Upload (assuming the Word document is on your computer’s drive). Find your file and upload it.
  • Go to File > Download and select PDF Document (.pdf).

Things get slightly more tricky on a mobile device because you can’t directly save a Word file to a PDF using the Google Docs mobile app. However, if you first save the file as a Docs format, you can then go on to convert it to a PDF.

ON AN ANDROID DEVICE

  • Open the document in (or share it to) the Google Docs app.
  • Select the three dots in the upper-right corner.
  • Tap on Share & export > Save As > Google Docs.
  • Then go through the same steps, but this time you can save it as a PDF file.

ON AN IOS DEVICE

  • Open the document in (or share it to) the Google Docs app.
  • Select the three dots in the upper-right corner.
  • Tap on Share & export > Save as Google Docs file.
  • Go back to Share & export, but this time, select Send a copy > PDF.

Bonus: if you’re curious what PDF stands for, it’s the wildly exciting Portable Document Format.

Elon Musk Challenges Twitter CEO To A ‘Public Debate’ About Bots

Maybe Elon Musk doesn’t want a court battle with Twitter? After having his lawyers spin up a 165-page argument about why he no longer wants to go through with his $44 billion deal to buy the platform, Musk suggested hashing things out in public — perhaps before a jury of the Tesla fans, Dogecoin hodlers, and potential Mars colonizers among his Twitter followers — to get to the bottom of Twitter’s so-called bot issue.

“I hereby challenge @paraga to a public debate about the Twitter bot percentage,” Musk proclaims to all 102 million members of his forum. “Let him prove to the public that Twitter has <5% fake or spam daily users!”

Musk promptly pinned the tweet to his profile, and then polled his followers on whether they believe Twitter’s argument that less than five percent of its monthly daily active users are “fake/spam.” The two options are “Yes” with three robot emojis (so cleverly implying that any users who pick that option are also a bot) or “Lmaooo no.”

So far, 67.2 percent of users picked the “Lmaooo no,” option. The poll concludes on Sunday, and its results will almost inevitably be skewed in Musk’s favor. It seems unlikely that this latest stunt draws a direct response from Agrawal or Twitter chairman Bret Taylor, since the actual dispute (in front of a real judge and jury) is scheduled for a hearing in court in just a couple of months.

Twitter’s lawyers already laid out what the company thinks of Musk’s bot accusations (which Twitter claims Musk got from some site called Botometer) in a hefty filing of its own, that heavily referenced tweets of his and may be updated to include today’s selection. Of course, they’re merely experts in corporate laws and contracts — they might not have what it takes to swing an argument executed through memes, quote tweets, and polls.

Binance CEO Meets With President Of Central African Republic To Discuss Crypto Adoption

The Central Africa Republic is still attracting the cryptocurrency world after officially declaring Bitcoin (BTC) legal tender. Since the new legislation, the country’s leaders have engaged different crypto stakeholders as part of utilizing the sector’s benefits.

In this line, the country’s president Faustin-Archange Touadéra met with Changpeng Zhao (CZ), CEO of Binance cryptocurrency exchange to discuss different elements of crypto including adoption.

The meeting was confirmed by Zhao through a tweet posted on August 5 where he revealed that they discussed matters of education and crypto regulation framework.

CAR Bitcoin adoption

Following CAR’s adoption of Bitcoin as a legal tender, Touadéra has increasingly focused his efforts on pushing for crypto adoption after the country emerged as the first in Africa and the second globally to adopt Bitcoin after El Salvador.

As reported by Finbold, the head of state maintains that Bitcoin adoption is in the right direction especially during challenging economic times.

Elsewhere, Zhao has been on a global push aiming to promote crypto adoption in various counties. For instance, in July 2022, Zhao revealed that he held meetings with the presidents of Senegal and Ivory Coast as part of his initiative aimed at driving up the adoption of cryptocurrency in Africa and beyond.

Although questions have been raised regarding Africa’s readiness to adopt cryptocurrencies, CZ maintains that the region is ready and has since partnered with platforms like Jokkolabs, one of Africa’s first social impact hubs.

Through the collaboration, Binance seeks to launch a blockchain awareness and education program across Francophone Africa.

CZ’s global crypto advocacy

It is worth noting that Zhao’s advocacy for cryptocurrencies comes amid criticism of Binance over its failure to put in place comprehensive money laundering policies. Consequently, Zhao’s meetings with leaders are viewed as initiatives to put Binance in good books within jurisdictions where the exchange is popular.

One notable meeting took place between the Binance founder and Turkish Finance Minister Nureddin Nebati and centered around the blockchain ecosystem and cryptocurrencies.

Notably, Binance had previously been fined by Turkish authorities $750,000 for failing to observe new regulations.

The Best Way To Manage Your Marketing Budget?

0

To introduce a product into a new market, there is a mountain of work that must be completed, which necessitates a larger budget. Here’s a rundown of the most common no-nos and how to avoid them so that budgets can be used effectively from the start.

  1. Delaying the involvement of a growth marketing agency.

Most businesses will not engage with a growth marketing partner until all marketing setup is complete, such as branding and website. This results in a disjointed relationship because the marketing agency will need to adjust quickly to what has already been completed, potentially slowing down the process.

By bringing them in earlier – perhaps a few months after the process begins – they can be involved in the process to help make things run more smoothly – for example, they can help support the website set-up with their knowledge of SEO and proper business site architecture.

A growth marketing agency can assist in determining which channels must be covered for branding. While you may believe you have covered all of the bases, we guarantee there is something you haven’t considered. Instead of redesigning assets once they are on board, a growth marketing agency can help refine the exact brief to ensure the creative can easily be deployed across channels.

This will waste not only money but also valuable time.

2: Assuming that a beautiful website will translate into sales.

Another common marketing myth is that designing and building a beautiful website will automatically attract the right customers to your company. While we would like to say that is correct, it is far from it.

In fact, the website is only the starting point, facilitating and creating a landing page for your customers to visit once they’ve discovered your brand. It is much more complicated than that. It’s important to understand the ecosystem that makes up growth marketing and how different channels are implemented; what their place and purpose are within that overall journey?

According to hundreds of startups, the misconception is that investing in a website will generate growth on its own, whereas it is a foundation for initiating and kicking starting that growth. This is a setup piece, and the emphasis needs to be amplified later on – the spend is typically placed within the setup stage, and clients have limited options for further development.

Begin with a simple website to create your designated landing page, and then progress to a more expensive one later on.

3: Believing that everything must be perfect.

Here’s a little known fact: perfectionism is overrated.

Nothing in business is ever perfect, especially in the early stages. Stop attempting to achieve it.

Consider creating an MVP that can be used to gather feedback from a large number of early adopters to aid in the scaling-up process. This will give you valuable insight into your products or services, which will aid in future product development.

This will save you valuable time and money because you can scale from this MVP rather than having everything done and perfect before the launch. Not only that, but it will relieve a lot of stress during these early stages.

Brymo Is Named Self “The World’s Most Powerful Artiste”

Olawale Ashimi, popularly known as  Brymo, has declared himself the most powerful artist in the world.

The singing sensation also revealed that he is no longer a musician, but rather a sonic artiste who creates images with words.

According to him, “there is no other artiste who is a better songwriter, vocalist, and performer all at the same time.”

He contended that they are either good at one or two of those things, but not all three, whereas he is.

“I am the most powerful artist on the planet.” We can have this conversation if you find me a better songwriter who is also a better vocalist and performer,” said the singer.

“A better songwriter than Brymo is easy to find, but he would not be a better performer.” A better performer than Brymo is easy to find, but he is not a better songwriter.

“It’s impossible to find a man as good a songwriter as Brymo who also performs, records, and is well-behaved.”

“There isn’t a single artist on the planet who possesses all of these qualities.” Yes, it was a revelation. I awoke one morning and thought, damn! That’s how good I am.”

“Now, this all started with realizing I’m a black man,” he continued. Travel the world, and when you find a black man who is both attractive and intelligent, he doesn’t say much.

“He doesn’t sound nice for a black man who says a lot.” He doesn’t perform well for a black man who sounds nice.

“You find him to be all of these things; he’s either Christian or Muslim, and he doesn’t smoke or drink.” Something is always wrong.

“I’m an all-around musician.” As a result, I’ve had to go so far as to say that I’m no longer a musician, but a sonic artiste.

“I became a sonic artist earlier this year.” “I use words to paint pictures.”

According to the organization, the challenge was designed to allow talents to use their creative abilities to speak on important societal issues.

Many poets competed in the Spoken War contest for the grand prize of N1,000,000.

The contest received over 5,000 entries in its two preliminary stages, which were held online, with the top six contenders converging in Lagos for the grand finale show at the Pop Central Studios.

In both the first and second rounds, participants were shortlisted based on the number of likes they received as well as the judges’ reviews and scores.

The four judges were renowned poets, authors, and spoken word artists from Nigeria and other countries.

Olumide Holloway, Efe Paul Azino, Obii Ifejika, and Maryam Bukar Hassan were among them.

The contest’s grand finale was broadcast live on Popcentral TV, where David Osaodion Odiase, better known as 78th Psalmist, was crowned overall winner, with Loveth Liberty and Divine Titus taking home N500,000 and N300,000, respectively.

“I’d like to congratulate the winners and let you know that the brand believes in your potential.”

Mr. Emmanuel Agu, Marketing Director of The La Casera Company, added that the contest was designed to inspire and reward creative talents, and that the organization was committed to instilling the ‘Can do’ spirit in Nigerian youths.

Odiase, the overall winner and a National Open University mass communications student, stated in his appreciation note, “My expectation was to get to the first three because I was competing against other candidates who are very good with their craft?” I am eternally grateful to La Casera because everything worked out in the end. This is one of the most inspiring learning curves I’ve ever experienced. I encourage my fellow students to never give up on their dreams.”
