Mr Bigg’s Wins “Restaurant of The Year” Award

0

Mr Bigg’s, the Quick Service Restaurants (QSR) being run by UACN Restaurants Limited has won the “Restaurant of the Year” award in Kaduna, Kaduna State.

The award given by Change Nigeria News (CNN-Nigeria) was based on what the panel of judges noted as Mr Bigg’s top-notch service consistency. “Mr Bigg’s is one of the first fast-food restaurants of the famous UACN, which has remained a favourite spot for years and curiously so even with the current economic downturn, it still maintains its attractiveness both in terms of product range, quality and customer service,” the panel maintained.

According to the panel of judges, “in an era where customer service has witnessed a new low by the blocking off of charging points for customers, Mr Bigg’s stands out by leaving open it’s charging points. This alone signals a welcome gesture that keeps endearing it to its many settlers in Kaduna.

The parking space is always clean and ever free from encumbrances such that it always has enough parking space for customers.

The convenience is one special spot that attracts attention. After over a decade, it retains the excellent neatness the convenience was known for.”

Recently, Mr Bigg’s launched its model restaurant at Northwest Filling Station at VGC, Lagos and some other parts of the country. The new restaurants, according to Mrs Ethel Mba, Marketing Manager, UAC Restaurants, depicts excellence, offering a wide variety of meals ranging from local to continental dishes, which according to her, is the heritage of Mr Bigg’s.

Many customers who have visited the new restaurants are impressed and excited with the excellent service experience which they say largely addresses their eating needs.

Mr Bigg’s, with over 75 restaurants in Nigeria, is a response to consumers’ need for quick, fresh and tasty meals as they become increasingly busy and has less time for cooking.

Mr Bigg’s specialities include Meat pie, Scotch Egg, Doughnut, Peppered and Barbeque Marinated Chicken, Celebration cakes and different types of confectionaries, while Nigeria delicacies include soups like Efo riro, Edikiakong, Fisherman Soup etc.

Nigeria Money Market: Review and Outlook

For the month of Nov-19, overall system liquidity remained elevated, as the size of maturing funds – from Nigerian Treasury Bills (NTB), Open Market Operation (OMO) bills, FAAC allocation, and FX retail refunds – outweighed outflows from NTB, OMO, FX and Bond auctions. Also, with local individuals and corporates barred from participating at the primary and secondary OMO market, available outlets were limited. As such, O/N & OBB rates fell to an average of 4.1%, from 5.0% in Oct-19.

In terms of primary market activities, the CBN only mopped up 49.4% (N767.2bn) of the N1.6tn OMO maturities that hit the system during the period. This was as maturities belonging to the class of unqualified investors were not rolled-over and frequency of OMO auction dropped to three (vs. six in Oct-19). As a result, heavy demand filtered into the NTB primary market, with stop rates crashing significantly to 6.5% on 91-day, 7.2% on 182-day and 8.4% on the 364-day. Also, the FMDQ successfully differentiated between OMO and NTB, which showed a bullish run in the secondary NTB market, as average yields declined to 7.3%, while OMO bills averaged 13.9%, vs 12.7% in Oct19 (OMO and NTB bills together).

Looking into Dec-19, we expect the direction of yields to remain largely dependent on the available liquidity in the system. Notably, with N776.3bn OMO maturities lined up in Dec-19 and bearing in mind the CBN ban on local corporates & individuals, we expect yields to moderate further, albeit at a slower rate as players look to other high-yielding naira assets (Bonds, Equities and Alternative Assets).

HONG KONG, CHINA – Media OutReach – 5 December 2019 – Trend Micro Incorporated (TYO: 4704; TSE: 4704),
a global leader in cybersecurity solutions, today announced it has been named
by IDC as the #1 vendor in Software-Defined Compute (SDC) workload protection,
according to the analyst firm’s new independent report: Worldwide Software
Defined Compute Workload Security Market Shares,
2018 (DOC #US45638919, November 2019).

The report
revealed Trend Micro achieved a market share lead of 35.5 percent, almost
triple its nearest competitor in 2018.

“We predicted a decade ago that organizations
would need multi-layered security to protect their cloud environments and
software-defined data centers,” said Steve Quane, executive vice president, Network Defense
and Hybrid Cloud Security at Trend Micro. “We’re
glad to see our foresight and innovation being recognized by so many customers
and to be ranked a #1 vendor for 2018 market share by IDC.”

The firm
defines SDC in the report as, “SDC technologies are often used in the context
of public or private clouds, but can also be implemented in non-cloud
environments–particularly virtualized and/or containerized environments. These
products accomplish their goals by ensuring the system does not run malicious
software that can compromise business applications and data on the servers.”

“For years,
Trend Micro has steadily built out its SDC workload protection capabilities for
virtual, public cloud and container environments, offering tight integration
with AWS, Azure and Google Cloud Platform,” said Frank Dickson, program vice
president, security and trust at IDC. “Although, the future has not been
written, Trend Micro is the dominant player in this market.”

Over this
time, real-time security has been embedded into running applications and Trend
Micro has focused on automation and security-as-code to seamlessly build
protection into DevOps pipelines, including pre-runtime scanning of container
images.

This
innovation continued with the August release of XDR, which correlates data
across email, network, endpoint, server and cloud workloads to identify
malicious activity which might otherwise go unnoticed.

Trend Micro
further built on these capabilities with the acquisition of security posture
management leader Cloud Conformity in October. This month, Trend Micro launched
a cloud security services program, Trend Micro Cloud One™, to address
customers’ security challenges around data center, IaaS, containers, storage
and serverless architectures.

The 2019 Loeries Official Rankings are out

0
Since 2010, the Loeries Official Rankings have offered a comprehensive overview of the annual performance across the brand communications industry throughout Africa and the Middle East. The rankings list the top brands and agencies, as well as specialist focus areas and individual performance in key areas.
The Loeries Official Rankings are a useful and independent measure of who’s doing what across the region and provides an objective and credible representation of performance across the whole of Africa and the Middle East. The Loeries is also the only award across Africa and the Middle East that informs the global WARC Creative 100, a showcase for the best creative work in the world.
CEO Andrew Human adds: “The Loeries Official Rankings remain the definitive measure across Africa and the Middle East for brands, agencies, production companies and individuals working across the design and advertising industries. It is the only comprehensive index for the industry that allows an oversight of what’s happening in this region, which makes it very useful when determining agency and brand performance throughout the region.”
2019 sees Joe Public United being ranked the number one agency in the Overall Ranking by Agency – Africa and the Middle East – for the second year in a row. Xolisa Dyeshana, chief creative officer, was elated because he recognises the Loeries as the premier awards in the Africa Middle East region and as one of the top awards in the world.
“To be recognised at this level is a huge honour for Joe Public,” says Dyeshana. “We are proud to be creating work that not only resonates within the regions but is of particularly high quality for our clients. We strive every day to improve our product and add continued value to our clients’ businesses. So to receive this accolade is a testament to the opportunity given to us by the brands we work on and the hard work of the people in our company.”
TBWA retained its place as top-ranked Overall Regional Agency Group, while TBWA\Istanbul shot up two places, coming first in the Ranking by Agency – Region Excluding South Africa category. Chief creative officer Ilkay Gurpinar explains: “Coming from Turkey and being awarded by a totally different collective of respectable jury members with the highest award in this category shows us once again that the language of creativity is universal. It is like we are speaking to each other through creativity, which is very exciting and fun.” She further commented on the incredible authenticity and creative DNA that is prevalent across the region.
Pete Khoury, chief creative officer at TBWA\Hunt\Lascaris Johannesburg, says being ranked Regional Agency Group for the second year in a row is “an amazing feat and acknowledgement of our collective capabilities across our region: creating iconic, compelling and relevant work for our clients across the region and on multiple platforms that leverage every media channel”.
Cem Topcuoglu, the regional CEO of TBWA, added: “It’s great to see our regional network building on its strong foundations. Next year, we’re going for the hattrick.”

The top-ranked brand for 2019 was Chicken Licken (up from number 2 in 2018) and newcomers City Lodge Hotel Group and Philips and the Nelson Mandela Foundation took second and third place respectively. Chantal Sombonos-Van Tonder, MD of Chicken Licken, says she is proud to continue her father’s legacy in “taking this company to the heights it deserves”.

In the Small Agency category (1-24 employees), Regency Global took first place, while Duke moved up one spot from last year to take second place, and Sunshine Collective took the third spot. “We are super excited to receive this recognition,” says Shani Kay, Regency Global chief creative, “and equally so to see our approach to authentic brand building and profit-with-purpose storytelling starting to make some industry waves. We believe in helping conscious brands to build long-lasting and sincere stakeholder relationships, and 2019 has helped us prove the concept of just that. Moreover, it has reaffirmed our conviction in the power of real human narratives to positively impact society, so particularly necessary and relevant in South Africa today.”

For the first time, in addition to brand communication, Loeries Design entries included areas of design such as retail furniture and product design, fabric, wallpaper, lighting, architecture and interior design, and even the design of signage programmes.

This recently extended Design category paid off for furniture designers David Krynauw and Jasmyn Pretorius, who were jointly ranked number two in the individual rankings – Designer category. The ranking clearly meant a lot to both, because it was so unexpected.

“It is both an honour and a privilege to be recognised by the leaders in the creative industry as someone who can influence future thinkers,” says Krynauw. “There are so many brilliant ideas out there and to be given a platform to execute and further mine is truly a blessing. My aim is to grow my team and business, and my hope is that this will help us build momentum.”

”We are just incredibly excited to get this recognition for our work,” adds Pretorius, “and the value of being recognised across the Middle East and Africa is almost immeasurable!”

Turkish communication designer Önder Sakıp Dündar was ranked the top designer. “The bonds between design and advertising are getting stronger day by day,” he reflects. “It’s because agencies and brands have realised the importance of design – giving them a face, boosting visibility, driving conversations and reinforcing messaging.”

Unusual Praise will be world’s biggest Catholic Concert by 2022 – Ekeh, Zinox boss

Chairman, Zinox Group, Leo Stan Ekeh, has revealed that Unusual Praise will become the world’s biggest Catholic concert, come 2022. Ekeh made the assertion while speaking during the 2019 edition of Unusual Praise held in Lekki, Lagos on Friday, November 29th, 2019.

Widely regarded as the biggest praise concert in Nigeria, Unusual Praise is an annual event organized by the Catholic Church of Divine Mercy.

“Our ambition is to make Unusual Praise for the biggest Catholic concert in the world. By 2022, we want Unusual Praise to be the biggest Catholic concert in the world,” Ekeh said.

This year’s Unusual Praise was attended by high profile personalities, including the former Governor of Anambra State, Peter Obi; Minister of Transport, Rotimi Amaechi; Chairman of MTN Nigeria, Dr Ernest Ndukwe; former First Lady of Lagos State, Mrs Abimbola Fashola, actress Rita Dominic, among others.

The event also featured the award of N40m funding grants to the 2019 set of Unusual Entrepreneur, an entrepreneurship initiative, which rewarded 251 budding entrepreneurs across different walks of life for their business plans.

The entrepreneurship initiative was sponsored by e-commerce giants Konga, Ecobank, Chineto Ozigbo Foundation, Gino, Payvic, Itex and others. Meanwhile, recipients of the grants were selected from a poll of 650 applicants, mostly members of the Catholic Archdiocese of Lagos. Equally important, Christians from other denominations also numbered among the recipients.

The funding provided, ranging from N50,000 to N1m, following a thorough review of the recipients’ business proposals by a select panel of judges. Winners of the fund are equally expected to be mentored by seasoned entrepreneurs, who will provide the required training to ensure the recipients’ businesses succeed in the long-term.

Explaining the rationale behind the entrepreneurship programme, Parish Priest of Catholic Church of Divine Mercy, Monsignor Paschal Nwaezeapu, said: “The Unusual Entrepreneur, being an arm of Unusual Praise, is intended to equip the young entrepreneurs with requisite skills, mentorship and spiritual backing, so that they could stand in business and through this, help the country in solving the unemployment problems”.

Furthermore, Programme Chairman, Valentine Ozigbo, commented saying, “the 2019 edition of Unusual Entrepreneur is focused on empowering as many entrepreneurs as we could afford, with the skill-set, funding, and mentorship they require to succeed in the world of business. The event is expected to bring our entrepreneurs up-to-date information regarding entrepreneurship in the 21st Century, solving funding challenges, sustainable business culture, among other things.”
