As part of activities being held in units and formations across the Country to mark the Nigerian Air Force (NAF) 55th Anniversary Celebrations, the Mobility Command (MC) today, 20 April 2019, held a Medical Outreach programme at Toru-Orua Community in Bayelsa State. Speaking during the flag-off of the event, the Executive Governor of Bayelsa State, Honourable Seriake Dickson, who was represented by his Chief of Staff, Right Honourable Stalford Onglo, said the NAF has remained consistent in rendering essential services, especially medical outreaches to victims of flood disaster and other emergencies within its host communities. He noted that the NAF’s consistency in this regard had endeared the Service to the hearts of Bayelsans. He recalled that in 2012 and 2018, when many communities were ravaged by floods, the NAF, through MC, had provided succour in the form of medical services to victims. He therefore commended the Chief of the Air Staff (CAS), Air Marshal Sadique Abubakar, for NAF’s commitment while also wishing the Service happy anniversary celebrations.
Earlier in his welcome remarks, the Air Officer Commanding MC, Air Vice Marshal (AVM) Peter Uzezi, pointed out that, apart from commemorating the 2019 NAF Day Celebration, the outreach was being held in furtherance of the Corporate Social Responsibility drive of the Service to its host communities aimed at improving Civil-Military Relations. He thanked the Bayelsa State Government for its immense support to the Command over the years and implored the people of Toru-Orua to avail themselves of the medical services being provided to deal with any health challenges they may have been experiencing.
