The average price paid by consumers for premium motor spirit (petrol) decreased year-on-year while the cost of automotive gas oil (diesel) has decreased month-on-month, the Nigeria Bureau of Statistics has said.

The NBS disclosed this in three reports published on Tuesday.

For petrol, the average price paid by consumers for premium motor spirit (petrol) decreased by -1.8% year-on-year and increased by 0.2% month-on-month to N145.4 in June 2019 from N145.0 in May 2019.

“States with the highest average price of premium motor spirit (petrol) were Kogi (N147.91), Kebbi (N146.43) and Bayelsa (N146.25).”

“States with the lowest average price of premium motor spirit (petrol) were Abuja (N144.20), Katsina (N144.13) and Benue (N144.00).” 

For diesel consumers, the average price paid by consumers for automotive gas oil (diesel) decreased by -1.46% month-on-month and increased by 9.62% year-on-year to N224.69 in June 2019 from to N228.02 in May 2019.

“States with the highest average price of diesel were Borno (N266.67), Taraba (N250.00) and Abuja (N239.00).”

“States with the lowest average price of diesel were Bayelsa (N204.17), Nasarawa (N196.91) and Plateau (N183.33).”
