YouTube said YouTube Music will come installed on all new devices launching with Android 10 (and Android 9), including the Pixel series. The app will be available as both a free and paid version without advertising. Google Play Music will remain available for its users. The app never really achieved the reach and brand awareness as Spotify, Apple Music of Deezer. The premium subscription for YouTube Music costs EUR 12.99 per month and is also available on Apple and Windows devices.

Android 10 is the first Android operating system version without a name, such as Nougat or Pie. The rollout started on Google Pixel smartphones but will continue with other brands in October. The OS provides support for machine learning on the device, as well as support for new technologies and form factors such as folding devices and 5G. In addition, the nearly 50 privacy and security changes are expected to provide customers with more protection and control over their data.
