Declaring the market open, the Taraba state Commissioner of Agriculture, Dr. David Ishaya, who represented the Executive Governor of Taraba state, Arc Darius Dickson Ishaku, said the Governor has expressed readiness to support business activities in the yam market and also ensure that fertilisers are available to yam farmers in Wukari and the entire state at a subsidized rate.

Speaking during the opening of the market, Dr. Ishaya enjoined yam sellers to support the administration of Governor Ishaku by adhering to market rules and ensure that they trade their businesses peacefully.

The market opening occasion witnessed rousing attendance of citizens of Wukari and beyond, as marketers expressed their gratitude to the government of Arc. Ishaku, who put in place security efforts to ensure that peace return to Southern Taraba and represented by Commissioner of Agric and Commissioner of Commerce.

Recalled that Governor Ishaku in his effort to accelerate the massive production of farm products, earlier in the year made available soft loans for soya beans farmers in the state.

This is to ensure the availability of cash crop to enable agric business activities strive in the state.

The Governor has supported agric business activities in the state in a different way, all in effort to keep the solvent with the agric economy.

On his part, the Executive Chairman of Wukari local government area, Hon. Dr. Adi Daniel Adigrace expressed satisfaction in the opening of the market.

He commended the peace and security efforts of the Governor of the state and promise to provide a standard borehole in the market to meet the water needs of the market.

In the same vein, the President of the Jukun Youth, called on everyone to invest in the market irrespective of tribe, religion, noting that a market is a place for all regardless of ethnicity.
