As the much-anticipated BBNaija All Stars edition kicks off, former housemate Niyi Lawal has taken a strong stance against those who criticise the show for allegedly distracting viewers from real-life issues in Nigeria.
Every year, as the show approaches, certain groups voice concerns about how it may divert the attention of Nigerian citizens from pressing national concerns.
In response to the criticism, Niyi Lawal asserted that if a television show hinders anyone from fulfilling their responsibilities, the blame lies solely on the individual’s choices.
According to him, no one has ever missed a job interview, lose a business deal or cancel their wedding on account of the show.
“If a show on TV stops you from doing what you’re supposed to do, then that’s on you. You no plan do am before.
“I’ve never seen anyone miss a job interview, lose a business deal or cancel their wedding plans because of BBNaija. It’s only to fight the government it distracts people from.”
