The goal of the MultiChoice Talent Factory (MTF) is to develop talent and support the expansion of Africa’s rapidly expanding film and television industries. With a presence in 14 nations, MTF provides excellent training and development programs that equip aspiring filmmakers and business professionals with the knowledge, abilities, and resources they require to succeed.

With a combination of education, training, and strategic alliances, MTF is reshaping the entertainment landscape throughout the continent.

Over 360 filmmakers have received training from MTF’s four academies in the past nine years, following the switch from the Magic in Motion Academy in South Africa to the MultiChoice Talent Factory and the opening of MTF academies in Nigeria, Kenya, and Ghana in 2018.

Graduates of MTF have produced and commissioned over 370 films. Furthermore, the Scriptwriting Incubator has benefited over 70 trainees and provided over 390 bursaries, which has further contributed to the development of a professional workforce in the film industry.

With four strategically placed academies in South Africa, Kenya, Zambia, and Nigeria, MTF provides a varied curriculum adapted to the particular circumstances of each nation. Building a pipeline of talented professionals and entrepreneurs is MTF’s mission. It does this by delivering a pan-African digital networking platform, seminars for industry professionals, and internships with top production firms.

MTF’s dedication to excellence is exemplified by its strategic alliances and joint ventures with prominent figures in the international industry. Students can access a variety of resources through partnerships with organisations including Zed World, Lights, Camera, Diaspora!, and the New York Film Academy, including job-sharing, film training, and internships.

The numerous feature films and short films that MTF alumni have created and that have won awards at international film festivals like Cannes, the Toronto International Nollywood Film Festival, and the Zanzibar International Film Festival demonstrate the influence of MTF’s work.

Alumni from MTF are also significantly advancing the industry with creative endeavours.

The establishment of Filmmakers Mart in Nigeria by 2019 MTF graduates Eric Okyerefo, Chioma Paul-Dike, and Igho Avuiroevarie is a noteworthy success story, BrandSpur national news stories reports.

Their partnership resulted in the establishment of two companies: Filmmakers Mart, a film-tech business that advances the African film industry with its production solutions, and Recce Solutions, a platform that streamlines location scouting.

Owing to the many achievements since its debut, they have since expanded to South Africa and Kenya in addition to introducing RollPay, a ground-breaking payment system for the film business.

However, Africa’s film industry is still growing thanks in large part to MultiChoice Talent Factory.

By offering an extensive training program, cultivating strategic alliances, and bolstering the artistic ambitions of its members, MTF is guaranteeing a bright and promising future for the African film and television industry. MTF is steadfast in its commitment to its purpose of developing talent and fostering sustainable growth throughout the continent, even as the sector changes.
