Seven months after its release, Coca Cola is discontinuing its Spiced flavor, with plans to phase it out gradually in favor of a new flavor that will debut in 2025.
Food Dive claims that Coca Cola’s Creations platform, which debuted in 2022 with the goal of showcasing the brand’s iconic beverage in novel ways and appealing to younger demographics, has been a major force behind the company’s recent innovations.
According to the report, the beverage giant said it constantly reevaluates customer preferences and modifies its product lineup, but it did not give a specific explanation for why Spiced was discontinued. The brand’s first long-
term release in over a decade, the Spiced flavor debuted on store shelves in February and is a blend of traditional Coca-Cola with notes of raspberry and spices.
Adding new flavors has grown in popularity over time and is now a key component of Coca-Cola’s strategy to maintain consumer enthusiasm for its products.
The leader in the cola market claimed that the Spiced flavor was created to cater to changing consumer preferences, especially those of younger generations who like flavors that are bold and daring. Coca-
Cola clarified that Spiced, despite its name, is a drink with a rich, layered flavor profile rather than being hot or spicy.
