Telefónica has chosen Bit2Me, the first cryptocurrency platform to register with the Bank of Spain, to run TU Wallet, the new marketplace for Telefónica apps, in its entirety. This technology, which was recently introduced by the telecom firm at its Telefónica Innovation Day event, will allow Bit2Me to enable bitcoin trading.
With this new tool, users may manage a selection of the major cryptocurrencies by market volume on both iOS and Android smartphones. TU Wallet offers an easy-to-use experience for millions of Telefónica customers in Spain, over 392 million prospective customers in over 12 countries, and anyone with a Spanish mobile number, irrespective of their operator, by emphasising simplicity and security—two attributes that are synonymous with Bit2Me.
Apart from handling digital currency holdings, TU Wallet offers the Bit2Me Card—a virtual credit card in collaboration with MasterCard—that lets users purchase with cryptocurrency at more than 100 million brick-and-mortar and online retailers that use MasterCard. This broadens the range of applications for cryptocurrencies and brings them closer to people’s everyday lives.
Leif Ferreira, the CEO and Founder of Bit2Me claims: “We are committed to integrating cryptocurrencies into people’s daily lives. With the implementation of the Bit2Me API in TU Wallet for Telefónica, we are taking another step forward in integrating crypto technology into everyday life. Thanks to our infrastructure and Bit2Me API, we ensure a secure and simple experience for all users who want to explore the world of crypto assets. This project marks a milestone in our mission to lead the adoption of cryptocurrencies, not only in Spain but globally.”
Continuing, the Co-founder and COO of Bit2Me, Andrei Manuel, said: “With the integration we’ve developed for TU Wallet, we are not only facilitating access to cryptocurrencies for millions of users in Spain and other markets, but we are also pushing blockchain technology one step further in its mass adoption. This collaboration with Telefónica allows users to explore new ways to manage and use their crypto assets in daily life, without technical complications, as they already do with the Bit2Me app. We are proud to offer an infrastructure that ensures security, scalability, and a seamless experience, bringing cryptocurrencies even closer to the future of digital finance.”
By making its Bit2Me API available, TU Wallet’s debut increases developers’ and third-party companies’ trust in Bit2Me’s technology. This tool offers a strong infrastructure for working with cryptocurrency assets by allowing the direct integration of cryptocurrency buying, selling, and custody services into other platforms or apps.
Bit2Me API, which powers portions of TU Wallet, provides the stability, scalability, and security required for the app to safely and effectively handle cryptocurrency transactions.
According to the Director of Banking Solutions at Bit2Me, Gabriel Ayala: “TU Wallet is a clear example of how our technology can drive the mass adoption of crypto assets in traditional sectors like telecommunications. The implementation of Bit2Me API in TU Wallet allows us to offer a robust and scalable infrastructure for managing crypto assets in real-time, guaranteeing both security and accessibility.”
