Leading digital finance company, Moniepoint Inc. made important moves to empower females via education in honor of the 2024 International Girl Day. The effort, which aims to promote financial literacy, inclusion, and self-development among young girls in Lagos, Nigeria, is in line with this year’s theme of “Girls’ Vision for the Future.”
Moniepoint made donations of more than 100 books of Nigerian novelist Abi Daré’s The Girl with the Louding Voice at the Hope Floating School in Makoko and the Ovie Brume Youth Foundation in Surulere.
The novel depicts the struggles of a young girl pursuing an education, which is reminiscent of the struggles faced by many Nigerian females, especially those who are impacted by cultural and economic restrictions. Moniepoint wants to encourage girls to imagine a better future where they can be heard by starting this campaign. A larger component of Moniepoint’s corporate social responsibility (CSR) initiatives is this book donation.

According to Didi Uwemakpan, Moniepoint’s Vice President of Corporate Affairs: “By providing access to this impactful story, we encourage literacy and empower young girls to dream beyond their current circumstances.”
To make this project a reality, the organization also collaborated with Roving Heights, demonstrating their continued dedication to using education to improve underprivileged areas, BrandSpur national news stories report.
Beyond just giving the girls books, the female engineers at Moniepoint engaged with them, providing guidance and reiterating the idea that girls’ education is essential for both individual and societal advancement. Research indicates that empowering girls in marginalized communities speeds up the country’s socioeconomic development, which is consistent with Moniepoint’s objective of promoting long-lasting, sustainable change.
