The user base of Meta’s microblogging platform, Threads, is growing significantly; according to recent data, the program now has 320 million monthly active users, up from 300 million last month and 275 million in November. At Meta’s fourth-quarter earnings release, CEO Mark Zuckerberg revealed the current figures.

BrandSpur digital news brand reports that despite fierce competition from platforms like X, Bluesky, and Mastodon, Threads has seen an increase in users. Additionally, Zuckerberg mentioned that over a million new users join the app every day. To keep users interested, Meta has been continually adding new functionality to Threads. Post impressions and post-scheduling are two recent additions.

Continuing, the business seems to be evaluating platform advertising prospects, especially in the United States and Japan, as it investigates revenue-generating tactics.

Susan Li, chief financial officer at Meta, discussed the continuous enhancements being made to the app’s recommendation algorithm. The modifications are intended to “prioritize more recent posts, surface content from top creators, and ensure people see more of the content from accounts they follow,” she clarified.

Additionally, the business is improving its custom feed choices so that users may further customise their content experience. Competing platforms are experiencing varying outcomes in the meantime. After a notable surge in November, Bluesky’s user base climbed by less than 10% in December, reaching 26.44 million. This indicates that although Threads is accelerating, some of its rivals are finding it difficult to sustain their initial growth.

Through its sustained investment in Threads and emphasis on user interaction, Meta is guaranteeing a robust substitute for X and other microblogging applications.

However, Meta’s CEO once predicted that in the upcoming years, Threads may have one billion users.
